ISO 2108:2017 Information and documentation — International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is the globally recognised specification for book identification.

Core rule: Each distinct edition, format or product form of a work requires a separate ISBN.

 

- Different binding types (Paperback / Hardcover) are separate publications;

 

- Digital publications (EPUB e-books) count as independent product formats;

 

- Material revision including changed trim size and full re-layout creates a new edition, requiring a new ISBN. Identical layout and trim size may share one ISBN for local printing and global online distribution platforms.

 

Our ISBN allocation policy complies with ISO 2108:2017 and the official ISBN Users’ Manual (7th Edition) issued by the International ISBN Agency.

國際標準 ISO 2108:2017《資訊與文獻 — 國際標準書號（ISBN）》 是全球圖書行業統一遵循的出版物識別規範。

標準核心原則：同一著作不同產品形態、不同版本，應當分配獨立ISBN。

1. 區分維度包含：裝幀形式（平裝、精裝）、載體形態（紙質印刷書、EPUB電子書）；

2. 若出版物裁切尺寸、整體版式重新改版調整，形成實質不同的出版物版本，同樣需要申領獨立ISBN；

3. 同一套版式檔、統一開本規格，可共用單一ISBN，同時用於本地印刷與海外各大線上圖書平臺發行。本社相關ISBN分配規則，嚴格遵循ISO 2108:2017標準及國際ISBN總署《ISBN使用手冊（第七版）》執行。
